A long time ago, I promised myself not to write any love songs. I figured the world already had way more than it needed and I should focus my songwriting efforts elsewhere. At another time, I explained to a friend that some songs seem to write themselves. They start off with a simple notion that just takes off. This song evolved from an argument I had with my wife over nothing of consequence. It's amazing how quickly a conflict about nothing can get heated. To redirect our verbal sparring, I smiled and said, "I love you." It broke the tension and we laughed. It's that moment that birthed the idea of there never being a wrong time to say those words.

Love is such a wonderfully complex subject, there may never be enough love songs. This collection of songs demonstrates that I broke my promise of avoiding penning love songs more than once. Oh well. Some rules were just meant to be broken!

until it shatters in a fight.
Most times, you only need to open up your heart
to close these gaps.
Communication streaming, flowing
from one lover to another
are the wings we use to hover over all these traps.
